The story “Becky and the Wheels- and- Brake Boys” is written by James Berry.Becky and the wheels- and- brake boys is about a girl who wants to have a bike, but she’s forbidden to have one since her mom disagrees with the idea. Becky is a credible person because of how she acts, how she feels, and what she says.
First of all, Becky is credible because she begs her mom for what she wants, a bike.As Becky says, “Over and over I told my mom I wanted a bike.” This shows how she really wants a bike, so she pleads to her mom. This shows that she’s realistic because a lot kids bug their parents for what they want.
In addition, Becky is believable character because she gets in a fight and gets angry at Shernette. As Becky thinks, “ For the first time, Shirnette and me had a real fight because of what I hated most. ” This shows how she was mad at her best friend because Shurnette let a cockroach fly down Becky’s blouse. She’s credible because friends frequently fight with each other for reasons like this.
Furthermore, Becky’s a realistic person because she asked for help to learn a new skill. Becky went up to the boys and asked, “ Can somebody teach me to ride?” Becky doesn’t have a bike because in her neighborhood girls aren’t encouraged to ride them. She wants to be part of the group, so she asks the to teach her a new skill. Becky stands up for what she wants just like any kid would.
In conclusion, Becky’s actions, emotions, her words prove that she is a credible character. There may be other kids in your neighborhood that are just like Becky. Or it could even be you.
